Exceptional Color USA Cut Umbalite Garnet
Stone: 3.37 ct Umbalite Garnet
Shape: Mixed Brilliant Oval
Size: 11.2 x 7.6 mm
Origin: Umba, Tanzania
Clarity: VS Eye Clean
Treatment: No Treatment
Umbalite Garnet has a unique chemical composition containing a mixture of Rhodolite, Pyrope and Almandite, with traces of Spessartite, each type bringing a unique beauty to this stone! Umbalite Garnet is extremely rare and production of this unusual gem has been irregular. It is highly sought-after by gem connoisseurs. The sole source of Umbalite Garnet is Tanzania's Umba Valley. Unlike plain rhodolite with it's raspberry purplish color is the addition spessartite allowing for this beautiful and rare shade. My stone is a lovely medium purplish-pink with secondary flashes of orange and violet. It is a showstopper and a color only a handful of stones have. It is expertly cut in the USA in a beautifully faceted Brilliant Oval. It is a natural, earth-mined, non-treated stone, that is extremely brilliant and beautifully faceted. It would make a fine center stone for a custom made ring or pendant, or a great addition to your gem collection. It has a lovely pink shade, tons of fire and a great shape for setting in a piece of jewelry. I bought this collector's stone with the intention of having it set by Alex Sepkus, but, have not had the time to have the ring made. Photos do not do it justice, it was impossible to photograph! I took tons of photos on this stormy snowy gray day and my camera would not cooperate and capture the beauty of this stone!

Stunning Purple Spinel - Great Color!
Stone: 1.88 ct Spinel
Shape: Oval
Size: 8.00 x 6.71 mm
Origin: Tunduru, Africa
Clarity: VS eye clean
Treatment: No treatment
This is a medium purple spinel with no visible inclusions. It is a natural, earth-mined, non-treated stone, that is extremely brilliant and beautifully faceted. It would make a fine center stone for a custom made ring or pendant, or a great addition to your gem collection. It has a lovely purple shade, tons of fire and a great shape for setting in a piece of jewelry. I bought this collector's stone with the intention of having it set by Alex Sepkus, but, have not had the time to have the ring made. Photos do not do it justice, it was impossible to photograph! Spinel is a durable natural genuine gemstone that is perfect for all jewellery uses. It is most often faceted in oval, round, or cushion shapes and is not currently found in calibrated sizes due to its rarity.
Now treasured for its own sake, spinel is a favourite of gem dealers and collectors on account of its brilliance, hardness and wide range of spectacular colours. In addition to beautiful rich reds, spinel can be found in a range of gorgeous pastel shades of pink and purple. It is one of the most spectacular gemstone colours seen in any species at all. Spinel also comes in beautiful blue tones called cobalt spinel, but these are very, very rare.
Because stones made in a laboratory that are often used for imitation birthstone rings are often called "Spinels or Zircons", many people incorrectly think 'synthetic' when they hear the name spinel despite the fact that spinels are a rare natural gemstone. Often enough, they have never even seen the real thing.
In fact, the main factor preventing the spinel from achieving greater recognition is its rarity. Fine spinels are now rarer than the rubies they used to imitate. Strangely, they are also more affordable: in the gem world, being too rare can be a drawback because so few people even get a chance to develop a fondness for the varieties in question.

This is such a lovely pendant. 6 custom shaped fancy cut rich purple amethyst stones are channel set to fill a crescent moon custom bezel set pendant. So, the stones are set edge to edge so the moon is totally filled with blue amethyst, no prongs, etc. just stones. The effect is truly magical. The yellow gold crescent moon has a tiny white gold star with a tiny diamond center, twinkle twinkle little star! The amethyst is very vibrant and has a lovely purple color. Almost an voilet the prettiest shade, not pale like many amethysts sold today, the stones are stunning. The pendant is 5/8 inch (15mm) long an roughly 5/8 inch (15mm) wide at the widest point. It comes on a pretty lacey 20 inch 14kt chain (not the bead-like one in the photo, I'll be adding more photos later). This is soooo pretty. The total weight is 2.87 grams and both the pendant and chain are hallmarked (10kt on the pendant and 14kt on the pendant) plus the pendant has the designer's hallmark. Please check my other listings for this same pendant in all blue topaz in addition to other gemstone moon and star pendants. I loved the blue topaz one so much, that I received the other versions as gifts each year. However, I just don't wear pendants so it is a shame to see them sitting in the safety deposit box unworn. What a gorgeous ring. A true Victorian ring, set in silver, holding a large oval faceted garnet, surrounded by rosecut marcasites. I can not express how gorgeous this ring is. The garnet has a lovely wine color that flashes crimson and has a lovely elongated oval shape. The garnet is roughly 10mm tall and 6mm wide as best I can measure in the bezel setting, is genuine, and is in amazing condition, no chips, nicks, etc. It is surrounded by marcasites that flash and glitter like black diamonds (thus why they were loved by the Victorians). The marcasites are roughly 2mm wide. All are present, none are missing, and all are original to the ring. There is also a little bit of Victorian engraving down the sides near the marcasites. The total ring face is 15mm tall and 11mm wide. The ring is a size 6, maybe a 6.25 (opening is 17mm in diameter), and the band is slightly off round but appears to have been constructed this way. It could be resized by a jeweler. It is silver (probably sterling), hallmarked "SILVER" (part of the letters are missing), and weighs 2.37 grams. In amazing vintage condition, this would make a truly lovely gift. Photos do not do it justice!
