This pill box was bought in the March des Puces in Paris, site of the original flea market. It is 1.25 ins in diameter and weighs a heavy 26.8 grams. The lid has a carving of a sphinx, lotus flower, and pyramids. It has foreign hallmarks for Sterling. It is probably from the 1920's when the tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered.
A vintage 3 piece set of alabaster, soapstone carvings - the Sphinx and two pyramids. The Sphinx is 5" long X 3" high and 1 1/4" deep. The pyramids are 2 1/4" square and approximately 2 1/4" high and 1 3/4" square. I have no idea of the age on these pieces, but, they do show wear that makes me think they are possibly from the 30's - 40's, might even be as early as the 20's.
